Balatincz Inc. spearheads Niking’s safety program to national recognition

July 6, 2004

President of Niking Corporation, Bob King highlighted Balatincz Inc. pivotal role in helping
his company bag two prestigious trophies at the recently held Corp. of Engineers-Construction
Awards Presentation:

- Safety Excellence Award for the Modification of the Entry Control Facility at Kuntz Gate-Hickam Air Force Base. (Zero Loss Time Accidents during the 195 day construction period.)

- Honolulu District’s and Pacific Ocean Division’s Military Construction Contractor of the Year Award.
(Awarded for outstanding work on the Modification of the Entry Control Facility at Kuntz Gate, Hickam Air Force Base.)

Working within a major entry into Hickam Air Base and the requirement to maintain traffic flow throughout the construction period, Niking succeeded in completing the project with negligible cost and time growth. Further complicating construction were impacts and delays caused by AT&T in relocating telephone lines, a concrete strike, and the nationwide steel shortage. These events caused a 40 day delay to the project which Niking was able to mitigate through schedule adjustments and overtime work.

Throughout construction Niking conducted weekly coordination meetings with the Honolulu District and Hickam Base Civil Engineer representatives to review upcoming work and make the schedule adjustments necessary to minimize impacts upon base operations. The Niking staff became adept at early identification and resolution of issues that would affect timely completion
or the quality of work.

Although working in a high traffic/ high hazard area, Niking maintained an outstanding safety program which resulted in no injuries or lost time accidents in over 8,500 man hours of effort.

These accomplishments truly demonstrate Niking’s ingenuity, dedication and commitment to the US Air Force, the Corps of Engineers and the Nation.

Balatincz Inc. spearheads Niking’s comprehensive Activity Hazard Analysis and daily enforcement of safety.
